Gilman International Scholarship Summer 2016 Awards!

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program (www.iie.org/gilman) congratulates the students from 22 CCID-member institutions who have received a scholarship to study or intern abroad during the summer 2016 term. The Gilman Program is pleased to grant 87 awards for summer 2016 to community college students – an increase of 21% from the previous summer term.

The U.S. Embassy to Cuba Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that limited funding is available through the U.S. Embassy to Cuba Public Affairs Large Grants Program to support activities that promote U.S.-Cuba bilateral relations in the following three priority areas: 1) Increase entrepreneurship and economic opportunities, especially among youth and underserved communities; 2) Institutional linkages between academic or nonprofit organizations to enhance bilateral partnerships through the promotion of education, the access and use of technology, sports, and partnerships across the Americas. 3) Promote cultural exchange and enhance understanding of our shared history, traditions, and values through innovative means. 

English Training Grant Opportunity in the Dominican Republic!

The U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that limited funding is available through the Embassy’s Public Affairs Small Grants program to support activities that promote U.S.-Dominican bilateral relations in the following priority area:

English teacher training programs to develop the quality of English language teaching in the Dominican Republic. The primary goal of the funding opportunity is to engage at least 60 English teachers in training programs that will support the development of the English teaching capacity in the Dominican Republic. The target population for this training program will be public school teachers, teachers of the Ministry of Higher Education’s English Immersion Program and teachers of the binational centers (Instituto Cultural Dominico-Americano and Centro Cultural Dominico-Americano). Proposals will be considered on a rolling basis up until June 15, 2016, 18:00. All projects must begin before September 30, 2016.
